PS4 remote play will work for PC AND Mac

Apple computers as well as Windows computers will be able to roll with the official version of Sony's PlayStation 4 Remote Play functionality. Official word came from the master himself, Shuhei Yoshida, on Twitter just this week. Just after a 3rd-party developer made his mark on the world by creating an official app for Windows machines to stream PS4 gameplay, Sony announces that they've essentially seen the value. This isn't all that great a piece of news for the developer of the unofficial app, which will become less-than-necessary soon – but we'll give him a hearty round of applause in the meantime.

The original release came from the developer known as Twisted. Back when he let it be known that PC streaming was a possibility through his own development efforts, he'd come to the public with a note about how and why he'd be charging a nominal fee for access.

"I've been working on this project mostly part time for over a year when the Android version was first released in October 2014. I've lost count the amount of hours I've put in over this time but I've enjoyed every moment working on this project which leads me onto my main point," said Twisted.

"I'd like to work on this project full time, adding features, getting it stable and porting it to other platforms which I know a lot of you want!"

If you'd like Twisted to keep working on this sort of functionality for other platforms, by all means, head over to his blog and follow along. Maybe he'll make a streaming app for Linux! Shouldn't be too hard, right?
