Well I know when Sony brings out the PS4 they can stick it as I’m stuck having to play on Two difference systems just because they decided that it was a smart move not to make the Slim PS3 with Backwards Compatibility. So even if the PS4 has BC it’s just to Bleed me for more money… It won’t happen.

I’m well disappointed like so many I want just one system not 2 ;-(

They don’t sell PS2 games on PSN for the slim PS3. This theory you have presented doesn’t make sense because Sony still supports PS1. Not having PS2 support means they make no money from PSN from PS2 games.

REAL REASON: They wanted to save money in PS3 development so they did away with the hardware for the PS2. What it sounds like is that they are to lazy or don’t care to develop a PS2 emulator for the PS3 operating system. The xbox 360 doesn’t have original xbox hardware yet runs most of the original xbox games flawlessly through emulation. Sony needs to do this.

I see no difference in graphics and game play between xbox and ps3. The fact ps3 offers psn for free is the edge over xbox 360. However, that free network might not last since Sony is warmed up on making crap decisions. The only reason I like my slim ps3 over the xbox 360 is because I don’t want to over-use my xbox giving it the RROD.

I know they took the hardware out of the slim model to play PS2 games, but why don’t they just develop a PS2 emulator for the PS3? The system would be more valuable if it had PS capabilities. It certainly is capable with its processing power.

To all the people that say just to play PS2 games on a PS2, you’re missing the point. I’d rather not have another system hooked to my TV taking up room and tangling with the other wires. It would be SOOO much more convenient to not have to worry about memory cards and to be able to use wireless controllers. I thank God they didn’t get ride of PS1 support. I just want to play all the games I bought for the each playstation in one place. It makes me sad to think that my PS3-PS1 games will be pretty much worthless when the PS4 comes out. Since people that are ok with it, don’t know what they want and are supporting a foolish move by Sony.
Another thing is that PS3 games aren’t that special, when 99% of the games out there are on both xbox 360 and PS3. The PS3 holds its value with its ability to do other things.

Dear Dumbass,
The only reason it’s not a marketing push is because you took it away, how can it be a push if there is noting to push? Are you really that stupid? Where the Hell did you get your qualifications? Backwards compatibility is what built the playstation 2 empire and it was promised that the 3 was going to have it too. I hope when the new wii and the next gen xbox come out, you see that your points of “just the ps3 games and blu-ray” as the main points are wrong. I have 4 other ways to play blu-ray movies, and most of my games I could get for my 360 or Wii. I can guarantee that if Sony reintroduces a backwards compatible ps3 slim that they would sell faster than you could imagine. Personally, I hate having to take up space, connection and electricity to hook up my ps2 just so I can play the games that as a gamer, I was promised by your company, that I could consolidate into one console. What’s more… how can you make it so it plays ps1 games, but not the games of the ps2? Who was the F’ing genius there?
I hope all of you at Sony in the Playstaion division have your next jobs lined up, you are killing the great console, now I know why the xbox and wii sale are up so much. To be perfectly honest, the ps3 was and continues to be a huge let down and I enjoy the competitors products better. To drive the point home… I can play my original xbox games on my 360, I can play my gamecube games on my wii, but I can’t play my massive collection of ps2 games on my ps3 as I was promised .

ok i love sony too bit.all ways have, waited so long to get my ps3 after spending years with my ps2. some of the best games i’ve played in my life, but when i got my ps3 it was looking nice. it even had the spot for the memory card for the ps2, poped the ps2 game in Zone of Enders naturaly and to my horror it would’nt even play it.
Sony need this out!

im also a bit upset ive owned 2 ps2 for about a year after they were released so safe to say i have a massive collection of ps2 games my last 1 broke and i bought the 60gb fat the day of the release and there were problems with it had to repair the blue ray player twice costing nearly the price of a new console so i get a new slim but now i have to pay even more cash coz now i cant play ps2 games and expected to buy another ps2 its absolutely disgusting and as said by someone before there gonna make u pay for a game on ps store tht u probably already have on your shelf gathering dust coz you cant play it lovely sense of marketing ok i’ll admit that i would still choose playstation over Xbox but the aint much difference between them if u think about. just think sooner or later they’ll make it mandatory to pay for psn if they did tht i think i would go to xbox bout the only reason i still play playstation

I agree. I would love to be able to pop in all of my old ps2 games and play them in the ps3. It probably isn’t one of the biggest selling points, understandable, but it sure would be nice to have some icing on this new “slim” cake. I dont like having all of my systems on one shelf, so ps2 games rarely get played, which is there intent, to get you to spend money on the new ps3 games and buy the ps2 games off of PSN.
