The author is outrageously misinformed. There is no headache whatsoever associated with buying gaming consoles in China. They are readily available in the electronics district of every major city, as well as all over TaoBao, the CHN equivalent of eBay. The problem for Sony, MS, and Nintendo is that Chinese consumers simply don’t buy software, at all. They buy the console, either pre-cracked or have it cracked in the same store at sale time, then go home with a HD full of games. Do they play online? No. But they also don’t care about that because the internet service in China is spotty enough as it is. FFS people I could have written you a better article for $10 if you had only taken a second to find someone with a clue. This author should be fired for ethical reasons: don’t write about things you know knowing about. That’s not “reporting”, that’s “making shit up.”

This story is inaccurate. I bought a PS3 in China over 2 years ago. I bought it in a legitimate store that sold PS3, Wii, and X-Box. Nothing grey market about it.
