PS3 finally hacked and jailbroken

After three long years on the market, the Sony Playstation 3 has finally been hacked and jailbroken – of course, by none other than iPhone hacker George Hotz, aka Geohot.  Hotz himself took five weeks to "crack open" the PS3, which he has documented on his blog, and his disfigured version of the PS3 is shown below.

Hotz wrote on his blog, "I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I've also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip."  He also commented, "3 years, 2 months, 11 days...thats a pretty secure system".

Now all three gaming platforms, from the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii, to now, PS3, have been user-modified.  However,  Geohot has remained close-mouthed on what kind of exploits the news could mean, although we expect the powerful Cell processor to be tapped for good use.  PS3 as well as non-PS3 owners, share your thoughts!
