Print your own Firewatch map, just like the good old days

Remember the old days of gaming, when you actually got an instruction manual with your purchase? Sometimes, games with particularly large open worlds would come with their own physical map. You'd unfold it, and try to get all of the creases out before hanging it on your bedroom wall where you could reference it. Well, one developer wanted to give fans that same experience, despite offering the game digitally.

In the game Firewatch, checking your map isn't just a nice feature, it's necessary to the gameplay. You need to figure out exactly where you are at times, which means opening the in-game map, and carrying it around. That's not always the most convenient thing to do, as the map takes up a considerable portion of your screen.

Fans of the game reached out to the game's developer, Campo Santo, to see how they could get their own physical map. After all, if you can have the map sitting beside you, there's no need to keep pulling it out, in-game. Well the developer listened, and offered up a printable version of the map, which you can download here.

There are actually two different versions that they made available. One is a clean map, and the other includes more textures, if you're into that sort of thing. The maps are 1280 x 1280, so don't expect to take this to a store and blow it up to a wall-sized map, but it should do just fine for your gaming needs.
