Pricing for One M9, Galaxy S6 leaked via promos

MWC brought some cool new smartphones. Just as we thought they might, both Samsung and HTC updated their flagship devices, rolling in the Galaxy S6 (and S6 edge) and One M9, respectively. We're not ready to call either champions until we get some extended hands-on time with them, but that won't stop the excitable from grabbing one as quickly as they can. Neither company was willing to talk pricing, but that won't stop the Internet! A few clues have already been found, suggesting pricing is right where we thought it might be.

Via the old "how much is this prize package worth?" method, we see the HTC One M9 is going to start at $599. That's pretty standard smartphone pricing, but also a bit lower than some others.

Via a giveaway from T-Mobile, Samsung's Galaxy S6 is listed at $699. That's also pretty standard pricing, but a touch higher than the $650 median price for a flagship smartphone.

We don't know exactly which phones will be on offer, but we'll safely assume they'll have basic memory specs.

It's also worth note that this is in no way official. Neither HTC or Samsung has announced pricing for their new handsets, and contest rules must list a price. It's possible the companies simply put something down to make the contest official and legal.

But even if pricing did jump around a bit, at least you have an idea of what ballpark we're in for these new handsets. At $599, the iterative One M9 is probably appropriately priced. For $100 more, you can get a heavily refreshed Galaxy S6, which has some pretty neat upgrades from last year's S5.

Whenever they do hit stores, it'll be a tough call, though.
