We are less than a week into PMA 2008, which is also one of the most exciting weeks prior to the event where leaks and rumors circulate the internet forum at its peak. A user from dpr forum claimed to get hold on a possible D40/D40s replacement. A Nikon D60 along with several new lenses.

Nikon_leak

In a nutshell, the leak revealed a rather disappointed rebadged 40x with additional features like Integrated Dust Reduction System, Image Sensor Cleaning function, Nikon 3D Color Matrix Metering II but still lacking built in auto-AF motor. If these alleged leak turn out to be true, the new body has nothing significant enough to keep their throne in Japan’s DSLR market. The successful Nikon’s D40 series has penetrated Canon year’s long leadership in Japanese DSLR market and later put Nikon on top of the list in the year of 2007.

Perhaps the lens line-up can cheer you up better than the body. The alleged new Nikon lenses are Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt/Shift lens, AF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens and a DX mounted AF-S DX 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Wide-Zoom lens.
