The Virgin Mobile MIFI 2200 is deceptively advertised. They advertised a prepaid service. After paying $135 and attempting to set it up, I learned it is is a monthly fee based service. It is the same as Verizon or AT&T except that one pays in advance for a month's service. If one doesn't use the service, all payments are lost. I suppose it is designed for those on the run from the law, or for those who don't have a bank account or credit. Tomorrow I'll return it. Meanwhile I have called my bank to disallow any charges from Virgin Mobile. Their 1-800 employees operate from some dubious foreign country (Pakistan, Estonia or Russia). I have to wonder why they bother with such a small stakes scam. There must be costs when frustrated customers return the things.

Virgin mobile's broadband to go does fine when it works. We have the mifi 2200. Encounter a problem that unit and all laptops show excellent signal and that you are currently connected but nothing works or responds. After a while it miraculously just starts working again for no reason. Customer tech support is impossible to reach. Sat on hold for 40mins and finally gave up! If you depend on it working for business go somewhere else. For leaisure it is fine.

Don't get virgin mobile broadband2go if you depend on it working.

All levels at virgin mobile (from customer reps to so called "executive" care) are unable to report any actual tower issues... this means that when the tower you are using fails it will remain broken indefinitely (or until a post paid sprint customer reports a problem).

When you are on a tower that works the virgin mobile broadband is not that bad (capped at around 1.4meg down and 600k up)... but if they have a network issue forget it... it will remain down until one of their contracted customers complains.
