Ive had a prepaid phone for over 4 years now using a regular iPhone I purchased from a current iPhone owner looking to upgrade (usually $2-350) and then AT&T GoPhone service. I even have the iPhone 4 because ou can take a gophone sim card and just cut it down to micro-sim size

As I posted already good phone hardware is worthless without good software, and apps. I’m not sure in what way the current iphone is obsolete compared to current Android offerings. The problem is the android os seems to be in a perpetual beta state and is just not polished well. The onscreen keyboard absolutely sux compared to ios’s. Just a couple months ago I would have totally agreed with you but that was before i really got to use an ios device everyday and now I can see why it’s so popular and without question a superior design.

Hardware isn’t squat without good software to run on it. And anyway as far as I can tell, and I’ve looked at many new android phones, the iPhone is built just as well and usually far better. I have had 3 different Samsung android phones and they’ve all been crap, the phone and the os, no more for me. I’m no tech newbie either, I build my own computers and rooted my android phone(s) as well. Like I said I’m no raving apple lunatic and it even makes me mad Android isnt better but iPhones garner all the consumer praise for good reason

iOS vs Android? Android has been superior than iOS for a very long time now. (Or why else would Apple take Android features to put into their OS?) The problem with android is CHOICE. CHOICE is what makes it cluttered and such. Yes, it make take (much) longer time to set up, but once you set it up to how YOU want to use it, it blow iOS out of the water. iOS (simply) cannot compete against it. But again, YOU will have to make the CHOICES and not let apple do it for you.

And I would argue that Windows Phone is superior than iOS as well. What Windows does is takes the good stuff from iOS and Android and combine it together.

Uhmm attention…my comment was about hardware and yes it is true, the iPhone 4S is outdated hardware-wise compared to current non-Apple smartphones to be more precise. If you want to talk about OS, then Apple is not superior depending on how one views it. From my point of view, which is on the flipside of yours, I’m not impressed with iOS. I too know people with iPhones running iOS 5.xx and when I compare that OS to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb 3.2 (different devices, so what? – the OS is now the topic), I can only smile as to why I’m using an Android-based device and not an Apple device.

Uh hmm…I did say “hardware” first and not software. iOS is software – and that too is boring and no, it’s not superior. My wife has her precious little iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0xx and I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running just Honeycomb 3.2. For OS comparison’s sake, I’m not impressed with iOS, but again my original comment was about hardware so I won’t even get into a spat with you about the software side of things.

Cricket does not own a nationwide network. They have a roaming agreement with Sprint to fill in areas where it does not have towers. To me, all CDMA services & phones are crap anyway.

That is only a benefit if you need it, and lots of people don’t. I’ve never checked crickets coverage but most of these guys use the major carriers towers anyway.

No not true. I use an android phone but have an ipod and ipad and have played plenty with friends iphones. I’m no apple fan boy but I can assure you that the apple ios is very much superior to any current andriod os, hands down.

Which major carrier has an iPhone plan with 2gb data, unlimited talk and text for $60/month? None that I know of. So I think this seems to be written by yet another apple fan boy that would prefer we pay $100/month to verizon for that seems the same service that cricket will be offering? I don’t know about everyone else here but there is no freaking way I’m ever paying $100/month for a cell phone, apple or no, unless it’s a business necessity. And in my opinion anyone that does is a fool.

I appreciate the math you did … and have been doing the same myself. The extra point it you pay $200 om Verizon while with Cricket you pay $500 … so thats paying $300 more but saving $480 over 2 months so a new savings of $180. Now the dealbreaker … the reason Verizon has the luxury to charge so much is because they have a nationwide network. So if you buy Cricket you are stuck with no nationwide coverage … so say bye nationwide mobility.

You are way incorrect on the math. A $55 is much
cheaper than any plan from other carriers. Looking at my Verizon bill,
$45 for voice + $10 for text + $20 for data….that’s $75. So Cricket is
at least $20 cheaper than Verizon. $20 over 2 years is $480. The math makes perfect sense for Cricket….maybe not for people who can’t do basic arithmetic.

It’s not worth paying for outdated hardware. And yes, the iPhone 4S is outdated already compared to the slew of recent Android-based phones. The HTC One series and Samsung Galaxy S III come to mind. But, to each his own right to be a sucker.

Prepaid! Except for that part where your bill is no longer any cheaper than it would have been otherwise, totally mitigating the purpose.
