WMC uses blue backlighting on a black background and is the best TV interface ever invented.
Apple tried to copy , but failed miserably.
Sent via IE10 on Windows 8 CP…while enjoying HDTV live in the uper right corner of my massive screen. While a second live HDTV program records to my HDD.
It`s great to be Windows. Native Ceton quad-tuner support.

Seems to me that Apple doesn’t care so much about Apple TV. They are probably focusing their efforts on iTV while keeping the settop box as temporary solution. Hence the reason why Apple TVs interface seems so limited and abandoned.

My concern with the new iPad is that the television commercial in the US that I have seen seems to imply that the ‘screen’ resolution is what is so wonderful (no longer the experience being magical). I think that change in focus will backfire when competitor’s (Android and Windows) come out with similar screens. Perhaps Apple should stick to the ‘experience’ focus as Android and Windows will be on such different hardware?

You know I thought the same thing. It was not intuitive. It’s like they just decided to throw a bunch of icons on the screen.

It’s okay for touch, but apple tv is remote driven. I really hope apple doesn’t start to get lazy. That will be a travesty to the legacy of Steve Jobs.

PedroG, Apparently he knows what he is talking about and you do not. I have had two AppleTVs for over a week – so have a lot of people. Also, it is clear a lot of people care that their AppleTVs got a little more confusing, and are interested in this Apple guy’s inside take, as there are many articles and comment threads already going on this topic.

Your comment didn’t include one useful or accurate point. You can’t even say you don’t care with any credibility, when you take the time to read the article and post a comment. If you don’t care, stop wasting your time making uneducated comments here.

The point that this article is really raising makes me wonder… how will Apple fair in the future… I just got my first real Apple product, the iPad 3(or whatever you wanna call it) but I have to wonder how much they will really continue to grow without someone telling them their great ideas are only marginal and make them strive for 100% perfection.

I agree. I constantly have to move selection back and forth just to figure out what I have selected.

Also, the way the top menu appears and disappears at the top, and require a double jump over the movie poster images to get to seems unintuitive and awkward.

Finally, there is a strange change in the “app” vertical icon spacing from when only the top row and a half are shown to when the second row is selected and more rows are seen. Not exactly a bug, but a strange lack of polish.

The problem with the new UI is the blue highlighting around the active icon. It is very hard to see with the black background.

I the new UI is great. Easier to navigate and get to exactly what I’m looking for. I would like the ability to remove certain “apps” I’d never use, like NHL, etc. But it appears to have more iOS feel for future app deployment.
