Porsche unveils new 911 Carrera GTS Coupe and Cabriolet

Porsche has pulled the wraps off a pair of new 911 models that fit into the line of venerable sports cars. The new models are a coupe and a cabriolet 911 Carrera GTS. The GTS designation first came to the Porsche Cayman and Boxster models and has made its way to the top of the line 911 sports car. All of the GTS Carrera models are based on the 911 Carrera 4 body with flared rear wheel arches and a wider track.

The GTS models can be had in rear or all-wheel drive versions and are designed to bridge the gap between the 911 Carrera S and the 911 GT3. Both models have a 430hp engine, the same used in the Carrera S Powerkit featuring the sport Chrono package and Sport exhaust.

Both GTS models use a standard Porsche PASM active damper system that lowers the ride height of the car by 10mm compared to the standard 911 Carrera. The GTS models can reach 60mph from a standstill in 3.8 seconds when equipped with the PDK.

Top speed for the GTS models range from 187 to 190 mph. Other added features include Bi-Xenon headlights and the Porsche Dynamic Light System. Inside the car, the interior is made from Alcantara with leather trimmed sport seats and center panels. GTS models also use 20-inch center lock wheels pained gloss black. The 911 Carrera GTS starts at $114,200 with the GTS Cabriolet starting at $126,100, AWD models start at $126,900 for the Coupe and $132,800 for the Cabriolet. The cars will hit dealers by the end of 2014.
