Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity now available

If you're a fan of Pokémon video games, a new game in the franchise launched yesterday as an exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is called Pokémon Mastery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. The game will allow players to build their own Pokémon Paradise and to discover special Magnagates using the Nintendo 3DS camera.

The game supports cooperative multiplayer modes and allows players to purchase additional content to expand their experience. Players can choose from five different favorite Pokémon characters including Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott or Axew. Nintendo says that a lot of Pokémon in the game come from the Unova region made popular in Pokémon Black Version and the Pokémon White Version games.

In Gates to Infiniti there are over 20 distinct Mystery Dungeons that change every time they are entered. That means players can replay each dungeon and have a near-infinite number of adventuring possibilities. One of the key functions of the game is integrating the use of the built-in camera on the portable console.

Players are able to scan any circular object in their environment using the camera to unlock Magnagates. Those Magnagates unlock additional dungeons to explore. The multiple player mode supports up to three players when used in cooperative Companion Mode. Treasure and experience earned in multiplayer mode is carried over to the main single player game. A new download pack is also available right now adding new items to collect and new Pokémon to interact with.
