PLX Devices XWave brain interface for Apple devices ships

We talked a bit about the PLX Devices XWave back in September when the brainwave interface first surfaced. Last Christmas toys for kids that were controlled using the brain were popular and sold with Star Wars branding and under other brands. The XWave is very much like those toys in that it turns the brain into an interface for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

The XWave doesn't allow you to actually control things on your Apple gear like tracks or anything. You can use the interface to control little games that are available for the system. The headset looks just like the one that is on the Star Wars mind control toy from last year.

You connect the thing to your iPad, download the app, and start playing. One of the uses for the XWave is said to be helping people with ADHD focus and control their thoughts better. The XWave is now shipping and if you want to try it, you can buy one right now for $99.99.
