Well I would say it is about picking the best choice at that point. If all the choices face the same restrictions why not pick the best of them. I love my 360 but I’ve been leaning more and more to PC to the point that I may not get the next gen consoles. I never buy used games in the first place but it is annoying to have these restrictions on the consoles. It was the only thing you could rent games for or buy used. When you destroy the things that makes consoles appealing you tend to look for other options. The PC is a great gaming platform and a worthy choice.

I agree, in Cornwall our internet is dire and hardly works if at all! We can hardly spend twenty minutes online without the connection failing, so basically everytime the internet goes the xbox is going to shut off? Not worth wasting the money on to be honest.

Wouldn’t this essentially be putting online game lenders similar to lovefilm out of business? Boomerang rentals etc? Obviously not immediately but after a few years they would all have a significant loss and wouldn’t be able to last.

I think that the specific idea of BANNING used games is a false rumor. But I’m willing to bet there will be a registration concept put into play that forces you to register games to your gamertag. Basically the same way that the downloadable games work only with physical media as well.

It’s not totally farfetched. One way it could happen is if they sold games with a “Registration Code” inside the box, which requires you to register the game to your gamertag. So you can play the game on any console that is signed in to your gamertag.

When you SELL the game the new owner simply enters that same code and it transfers the ownership over to their gamertag. It would no longer work on your system but you wouldn’t care because you SOLD IT, remember?

So the used game industry wouldn’t be hurt by it and could still function as normal. The only people I could see this effecting are those who have been pirating their 360 games. Which is the exact reason why Microsoft or Sony would implement this concept, and a ridiculous reason to be angry about it.

think the point is being lost .if sony and ms controll the use of second hand games the entire market will be put in jepody and we may see an end to console gaming either company want maximum profit from little effort so they will try and force us into buying full price for a game we may not like but then we are stuck wit h full price game we thought we liked to start.the next step will be a pay per play via a subscription service like all thease film and tv services.then actualy buying a dvd or blu ray. and anthor thing sony wont bring a console out without a new format .as i recall thry broke the dvd format and the blu ray and with 4k rez tvs and 3d without glasses i wudnt mind betting on a new format
for either console .

OKAY, IF THEY DID THE NO USED GAMES! the game probably like your pc game, has either a code, or ties into your account as proof you own it! AKA wow, why u cant delete your account even after removing game! Steam has it too, sony and micro as well….. IF they do go with the plan to remove used games, it will tie to your account! I cant spell, but atleast I know how a cd key works

why not just be able to send games between PS4s that are linked to your PS Store account? the same way people transfer downloadable content.

My only issue here is the games coming out recently are complete let-downs. Sony and MS have clearly seen a pick up in rental and second-hand markets because everyone is getting wary of spending £40 on a game brand new and it being a complete let down (too many to list! easier just to say Unchatered 3 was the only game I WASNT let down by)
Yeah I’ll buy into this, when every game that comes out isn’t a half-arsed peice of cr*p.

The developers that are pushing this will regret it. The used game market doesnt exist in a vacuum. What do you think people do with the money when they sell their old games? Id say 90 percent of the time it immediately goes toward the purchase of new games. The whole game market will suffer. Not to mention GameStop and their ilk. Hopefully they just dont sell these new systems or any of the games that threaten their existence as a company. Maybe then the developers (this is ea and activisions doing, not Sony and microsoft) will realize they are biting the hand that feeds.

They will sell a ton less games and systems if they go this route.. People will be reluctant to buy a game that they can’t resell when they are done with it and thus will be reluctant to buy a system that would have a low game attachment rate. Why would someone spend $60 on a game just to try it and find out they didn’t like it but are now stuck with it because they can’t resell it.. Bad Idea, Very bad idea

What it has to do with is developers not getting any of the money from used games for the development of new games. Lets say you sell 10 million copys of your game new in 1 year but half of those are now going to be sold as used every 3 months that same year that’s 20 million games sold with no money going to you. The bad part is you needed to sell 15 million just to cover costs and now thanks to used game sales you have to close your company. All because the consumer wanted to save 5 bucks on a game.

This is a MORONIC article only printed to stir up trouble. Neither Sony or Microsoft is going to come out with a console that “bans” used games! When the majority of your customers buys and plays used games your not gunna piss them off and lose all that business. It also seems illegal to me to even do that. If I wanna buy a used car and Ford/Chevy/Toyota says I can’t drive it on the road unless I buy a new one or If Apple said I cant use iTunes because I bought my iPod used and not new I think I’d have a lawsuit….same principle. Sick and tired of hearing this assinine concept. I think these stupid articles are planted by Sony/Microsoft just to gauge public opinion.

The came should come with a passcode so that if you wanted to take the game to a friends house you would need the code, this would also stop people from stealing games from you. Whats tje point if you dont have the passcode

Cheapest: 1. Craigslist, 2. eBay 3. Amazon 4.Other online sites 5. Gamestop. I just bought Crysis 2 today for $14 for Xbox 360 on eBay.

Locking games to the console will make me much more slower to buy new games. $60 is just too much. I wait 2 months and it drops to $40 used online. That’s not going to happen if microsoft is in charge of pricing. People are going to play much less variety of games in the future. :(

The jump is not great? You obviously know nothing of graphics. Jump on a PC with a sandy bridge x64 architecture, i7 six-core processor, 12 gigs of RAM, and side by side gpu’s with more than 1500mb of VRAM on each. Load up Mass Effect 3 (or any other graphic hungry game) and turn all the graphic settings to the maximum. And if you can come out of that and say “it looks like 360″ then I’ll do a fucking somersault off a bridge.

i can say its a bad idea… developers/publishers SHOULDN’T see a dime from used sales, used sales aren’t about making sure the developer gets paid, its more about recycling… someone no longer wants a game, and another wants it but can’t afford its exorbitant price, then the WORLD benifits from one less item becoming useless garbage… this practice would be simple corporate extortion and nothing less.

Let me be the 1st to suggest, or better yet, propose that:

If the “Gaming” companies continue down this path of “Greed” all of Gamer-kind should respond with a complete and thorough boycott.
We should put the powers that be, on notice that we will do our absolute best to ensure that you have the biggest and most epic fail of your careers.

As if, every game you ever produced was worth that initial $60 price tag.
As if every game you produce, was worth my time to play completely through to the end and still warrant being “kept” in my collection.

Seems like a few people need to be given a reality check.
