Continuing the rollout begun back in August, from October Sony’s pre-paid Playstation Network cards will be available in Walmart, Best Buy and select Sam’s Club outlets across the US.  Barnes & Noble will begin selling the cards in November.  Available in $20 and $50 denominations, the PSN Cards can be used to buy items such as games, movies, TV shows and other downloads for the PSP and PS3.

The cards were Sony’s pacifier to those gamers either too young, uninterested or unable to get a credit card, the only other way to purchase items from the Playstation Network.  Already available in Blockbuster, Pamida, Meijer Superstores and Speedway stores, would-be buyers have often complained that the pre-paid cards are still nonetheless difficult to come by.

It’s also an opportunity for Sony to cash in on the holiday gift market, with the company already suggesting that a PSN Card makes for a great present for the gamers in your life.  You can find your nearest PSN Card retailer here.
