PlayStation 4 preferred over Xbox One according to US poll

The latest battle in the console wars is definitely brewing. With both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One set to launch later this year, the fight is on to win market share in the next generation console wars. The Xbox 360 typically sold better than the PlayStation 3 but that might not be the case with new generation consoles. A recent survey in the US look at which of the next generation consoles gamers were most likely to purchase.

The survey found that gamers in the US are more likely to buy PlayStation 4 than the Xbox One. Granted, the survey was rather limited in scope looking at under 1300 people. The poll was performed by Ipsos for Reuters. The survey looked at 1297 people and found 26% of respondents said they plan to purchase the PlayStation 4 this holiday season.

The survey found that 15% of those who responded plan to purchase the Xbox One. Both the consoles will hit the market in November with the Xbox One arriving a week ahead of the PlayStation 4. The official launch date for the UK is November 22nd for the Xbox and November 29 for the PlayStation 4.

One likely reason why people seem to be leaning towards the PlayStation 4 is price. The PlayStation 4 is tipped to sell for £349 in the UK with the Xbox One selling for £429. The likelihood of buying the PlayStation 4 over the Xbox One was even higher for those who responded over the age of 40. In that category 41% were likely purchase the PlayStation 4 and only 27% said they plan to purchase the Xbox One.
