PlayStation 4 CE-34878-0 save file error under investigation by Sony

Supposing you've seen the error "CE-34878-0" in your PlayStation 4 in the recent past, you'll likely be none-to-thrilled about how much of a game you've had to re-play as a result. Though playing the game is all the fun of playing the game, so to speak, finding that an error in your next-generation console has resulted in your safe files being corrupted is not the thing you want to see on a Thursday evening. The good news is that Sony is looking into it.

While a massive thread of cases has appeared on the official PlayStation 4 forum, it would appear that Sony's efforts are still taking place. One of the major oddities involved in this mishap appears to be the fact that, while it would seem possible to get past the error offline, most games involved in the error do not allow offline play.

Speaking with Eurogamer, a Sony spokesperson made an effort to calm the masses with the following note, suggesting that they're hard at work investigating.

"We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate." – Sony

Games affected by this error include Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, NBA 2K14, and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. It does not appear that any other console is working with said errors, only these games with the Sony PlayStation 4. Let us know if you've experienced this bit of a glitch and we'll make sure to keep you up to date on Sony's efforts from this angle!
