Play Star Citizen for free this week

Star Citizen is probably one of the most ambitious gaming projects that I've seen. It's also the largest crowdfunded project to date, with over $107 million raised as of last month. And now it's free to play, at least for a few days.

That's right, as long as you have a Star Citizen account, you can take flight without paying a dime. And getting a Star Citizen account is also free, just in case you've never signed up. You'll be able to play Crusader, which features "multiple space stations and environments, scripted missions, places to explore and more."

You'll also be able to check out Arena Commander, which they describe as a "game within a game." In Arena Commander, you'll be able to take on other human players, or swarms of AI ships in a single-seat fighter.

The game is free to play until February 5th, so you've got a few days to check it out. You'll have access to three different ships for the duration: The Hornet F7C military fighter, the Aurora LN starter and the Mustang Delta interceptor.
