PixelOptics emPower Electronic Eyeglasses Hands On

PixelOptics has announced the world’s first electronic focusing lens, emPower. These electronic eyeglasses benefit users more because they allow them to have a better, less blurry view of the world. After a demonstration, we were told that when activated by the press of a button, the liquid crystal electronic lens focuses to the users prescription.

They consist of “composite lenses with a thin transparent LCD-like layer, microchips, micro-machine accelerometers and miniature rechargeable batteries”.These glasses should be available April 2011 for around $1,200. As you can see, they look like normal glasses and we couldn’t tell the difference when they were demonstrated for us.
