PixelMags digital magazine app on iPhone and iPad grows significantly in Q3/Q4

PixelMags has announced that its apps on the App Store have seen the number of downloads during Q3 and Q4 2010 increase significantly. The app has had over a million issues downloaded from the branded magazine and catalog iTunes apps since they were launched.

The company also noted that its in-app single-issue purchases of magazines were up 169% during the two quarters. The company has all sorts of content running the gamut from Pottery Barn catalogs to print publications like Dub and AutoWeek magazines.

Paid apps sales have increase 30% in the last 26 weeks and the use of the free app has increased by 108% according to the company. That is an interesting bit of news for people curious about the digital content market on the iPad and iPhone. I still say the digital magazine market won't take off on the iPad until publishers get the prices more in line with consumer expectations for a products that is digital only.
