Pioneer Electronics AppRadio hits stores for $399

We have talked about the Pioneer AppRadio a few times now and to be honest I really suspected the device would land and be very expensive. As it turns out the AppRadio is not really expensive at all when you think about high-end car audio. Pioneer has announced that the AppRadio is now available for immediate purchase at $399.

The AppRadio supports the iPhone and iPod touch and will mirror some content from your phone to the screen on the radio. The AppRadio works with the iPhone contacts, calendar, photos, and provides hands free calling with Bluetooth integration. The device will also support Google maps. The catch is that some functions will only work when the car is park and the brake is engaged.

The list of apps that will display on the 6.1-inch capacitive touchscreen include MotionX-GPS Drive, Inrix, Traffic Rdio, Pandora, and the iPod music library. The device is offered now for $399 in Best Buy, Amazon, and other places. This is really cool, but I don't like the parked only functionality for some processes. If my kid in the front seat wants to watch a flick the radio should support it.
