Pinterest iPad app coming soon amid website redesign

We've recently reviewed the iPhone application for the newly vastly popular social sharing website Pinterest, now we've got word straight from the source that the iPad edition is coming soon. This application would take the image-based platform and place it on the most popular gadget in recent memory, the most popular tablet computer on earth, and Apple's newest release – coming out this Friday for those of you keeping track. Today Pinterest's co-founder and CEO Ben Silbermann spoke at South by Southwest's Interactive conference letting the world know how humbling this whole recent explosion of interest in the project has been.

A recent report from comScore placed Pinterest in third place for amount of time spent on a website by users – 98 minutes per month on average amongst the users comScore polled. This sits the site behind only Facebook and Tumblr for minutes per month used on average – a feat in an of itself! The recent jump in users has spurred not just a bonus for the site in its userbase, but in the feedback they're receiving on a regular basis now as well.

Feedback received over the past few weeks and months has made a case for the designers of Pinterest to modify the site for the better here in the first quarter of 2012. The site will soon be updated with a "more beautiful" set of aesthetics, as Silbermann noted today in Texas. This redesign will also feature users' influencers more prominently and will lend itself to a brand new design for the first iPad-compatible app, also coming out soon!
