I assume you didn't actually listen to anything Doug had to say. He's using the HRT iStreamer to get the audio out of the iPad. Not the headphone jack. The iStreamer allows you to take the audio signal out, digitally. Totally bypassing the internal POS DAC ( digital to analog converter ) and amplifier that's built in. it also allows the iPad to remain charged.

I too have a Galaxy Note and I totally agree. I use the AUX line in that I installed from FutureShop and a blue tooth dongle SONY MW600, ( I find I get feed back when phone is plugged in and charging ) I carry it everywhere and it sounds amazing through my car system. The 5.3 " Screen is ideal and the easy portability means I can use it walking around, in my car and at home seamlessly. Google Maps works perfectly every time. My kids now use my iPad, My Galaxy Note does everything the iPad did and more.

@mopar300m:disqus dude these guys know more about sq than you can imagine. He has it hooked up to a hrt istreamer (which gives higher voltage outputs than your average headunit, and a clean analog signal), going into the most advanced processor out there, an audison bit one. Do you research man. And it is unremovable in the dash, always charging, so the battery is basically useless.

My setup is:

1. Samsung Galaxy Note (runs Google Maps navigation in foreground and music app of my choice in the background (slacker, rdio and tune-in are my current choices)). Windshield-mounted.

2. Jabra Cruiser2 Handsfree Bluetooth speakerphone set (has a built-in FM transmitter). Phone transmits music, phone calls, etc to Cruiser2 and Cruiser2 then can either play the content through its own built-in speaker or transmit the music/phone call to an FM station so I can listen via my car's stereo system. Sound quality is actually better than when I connect the phone to the Aux input in my vehicle...go figure.

I have also done this with the HTC Flyer (GPS was spotty), Blackberry PlayBook (ok, but less selection as far as music apps were concerned) and a couple of Android phones (eg. Motorola Atrix (4" screen)). The tablets were ok, but needed to use my cellular phone as a wifi hotspot for streaming music and GPS maps. The phone-only solutions were easier since they only required the one device. The limitation with my initial attempts was screen size (3.5" and 4"). When the Galaxy Note was released in my market it seemed like a no-brainer for this purpose, and I have found its 5.3" touchscreen to be a great compromise between the 7" tabs and the 4" phone. The screen is large enough to be useful for navigation as well as for controlling music apps, and I can just pop it out of the holder and into my pocket when I get to my destination.

The iPad has shit sound quality and nothing in the way of balance/fade/bass/treble controls. I can't imagine this is a good sounding solution at all. Plus what's going to happen to the iPad when the li-po batteries swell up like softballs due to heat damage.

What a dumb idea.
