Do you as a parent feel the need to put novelty things on your child’s skin before they even know what they are? Now you can buy Tattoos for Babies, and no I’m not kidding. The FDA actually approved this too.

You can even put a heart tattoo that says Mom just to remind him that he loves you; except, you’ll have to tell him because he can’t actually read what it says. You can buy a pack of 49 individual tattoos, and you’d better get on this one quick, I’m sure your baby would be crushed if you didn’t.
I’m curious what the motivation for creating such an item would be or the thought process that made this seem ok? The little pictures that make up the tattoos are cute, I just don’t think I’d ever put one on my baby. Maybe once they learn to walk they can have one. These are only priced at $4.99 a piece.

The idea seems cute , you have to keep in mind though that beyond food and diapers , anything else is for the parents when it comes to things for babies . Seems like it would be much better for a slightly older child though, 1 or 2 maybe , infant is a bit much , but I can see how it would be cute when the parents are heavily tattooed like myself , and a lot cooler then a dad and lad matching outfit picture at least.

The author of this article (if talking negatively about this product) is a fucking deuschbag. It would be cute. I hate conservative people with a passion. Obviously this item is not for the baby’s self expression. I’m sure psychologically, later in the childs life, having been exposed to this would make them a little more open-minded to the modified and tattooed like myself, and not cry like a little bitch when exposed to this sort of thing later in life. I hate when people are literally scared of things like ear stretching. YEAH ITS REAL!

she only said she wouldn’t put one on her baby, she did not say you SHOULDN’T put one on your baby!

Chuck I agree, 1 or 2 would be more logical. That way at least they are old enough to get excited about it. Jan I did in fact mean that I wouldn’t do it, not that you shouldn’t and thank you for pointing that out. I believe in each person’s right to express themselves however they wish, I honestly don’t care if you stretch your ears. However, I would be concerned if you started considering doing it to your infant. Oh and by the way it’s spelled douche bag, not deuschbag.

ha, too cute.
putting a temperary tattoo on a baby is no more ridiculous then dressing one up in silly clothing because the style looks amusing when its on a baby.
obviously it is not being done for the babys sake, and as its being done to an infant, it seems it would have little influence to future tolerance towards tattoos one way or the other.
anywho, it made me smile, and giggle a little on the inside :)

Haha, my 2 year old brother would LOVE these. He’s always lifting the leg of his pants or lifting the sleeve of his arm and pointing and saying ‘tattoo? tattoo?’ However…I could just go to any old store and buy the same exact thing and not have to order them online.

I think it’s cute. It’s not any more ridiculous than dressing a baby in cute things, piercing it’s ears, or giving it cute haircuts and accessories. I’m pretty sure babies don’t actually care about any of these things, so it seems silly to emphasize, for the sake of the con side of the argument, the fact that a baby wouldn’t care about temporary tattoos.

Temporary baby tattoos are a heck of a lot better than all those parents who take their infant to Claire’s for an ear piercing. Just my two cents.

Maybe they meant to type, “deutschbag”? But I have no idea what a German bag would have to do with this discussion item.

Therse are pretty cute, but think of what sorts of chemicals you’re going to have to rub on your baby to get them to come off. When I was little there was nothing grosser than having a nasty, dirty, old temporary tattoo. The only way my mother could get them off was to use rubbing alcohol. I don’t thing the problem with these (if there was one to begin with) is necessarily a body modification issue so much as it might end up just plain messy. Blech.

ive been putting temporary tatoos on my 4 year old brother since he was 2. he loves them because he sees other people with tatoos (mom, dad and other family) and wants to copy. now he always asks me to buy some for him.

Actually, BABY OIL is one of the things you can use to get temporary tattoos off.

Uhh, did I say anything about stretching my own ears? While I do partake in this, I didn’t say anything about it. Thanks for the spelling correction too. Did it help you understand the point better? :D

i think its anawesome thing. kids and babies always want to have tatoos and now there is a way that they can. its great keep doing the whole tatoo idea. my nephew love them and so does his mom because they can wash off.
NeutralBabe*Love December 5, 2007
P.S. All my totally hip friends wear matching tatoos like their babys. It looks soawesome all women and their children should wear matching tatoos. Its in fashion now.

It seems like a nice idea if the comprehended the excitement of it but it does sound somewhat pricy per individual one but I would think it would be used for an older age maybe like 2-3 years. Like you said when they begin to walk even though that is younger than that.

A nurse first came up with the idea of temporary tattoos for babies as a way to help prevent baby mix ups in the hospital, also so that no one could handle a baby that wasn’t supposed to. The baby, mom and dad would each wear a matching tattoo. The idea was to prevent someone from taking home the wrong baby.
