You may not have heard of the PhysX chip before, but if you own one of the current-gen gaming consoles, you’ve used it. As you would likely guess from its name, the chip processes all of the physics-related events in your favorite games. PhysX is owned by Ageia and works in conjunction with the CPU and GPU to bring games to life. However, the day may soon come when both the PhysX chip and your GPU are one and the same.

It’s no secret that Nvidia is sitting as king upon the GPU throne these days. They don’t sit idly though, in order to maintain their dominance of the market, they have purchased Ageia and are planning on integrating the PhysX technology into their own GeForce chips “as soon as possible.”
This is big news for gamers everywhere. It means that your current card just got one step closer to being obsolete.

Not obsolete already, I just bought my 8800GT, and now I gotta change it again, 3 videocards in a year is not good!!! Well it is, but It finishes by costing me alot… First a 7600GT than an 8800GT, and now I gotta switch to the 9800GT PPU Pro Extreme Overclocked WaterCooled edition.
