CFL bulbs last about 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. It’s not unusual for a CFL bulb to last for five years, and even as long as nine years.
Also CFL’s are cheap because the demand in low, I just bought a 12 pack for $24.99

If you get 25 times the lifetime and less power consumption the price isn’t so bad.  Just have to be smart to think it through and not poor.  Light bulbs are taken for granted when you buy a home because the builder doesn’t replace it when it goes bad.  You just go buy a new one.  Also your bulbs probably only last 30 days because of power fluctuations or cheap bulbs.  Also incandescents are  fragile.  LED bulbs suffer from none of this.  Of course I say all this and there will probably be a study in 20 years saying they cause cancer or something?!
