Philips HDR5710 and HDR5750 HDRs offer integrated Wi-Fi and support streaming media services

Philips has announced two new HDR recorders able to record full HD resolution television broadcasts. One of the most interesting things about these new video recorders is that they don't require customers to agree to a contract or pay monthly subscription fees. The new HDR devices include the HDR5750 and HDR5710.

Both of the recorders have integrated Wi-Fi and are able to connect to multiple streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Vudu, and CinemaNow. Both of the recorders also have the ability to timeshift recording of HD over the air broadcast content.

Both recorders have built-in NTSC tuners. The difference between two devices is that the HDR5710 can store up to 50 hours of TV programs using its internal 500 GB hard drive. The HDR5750 has a larger internal hard drive with 1 TB of storage good for up to 100 hours of video recording.

Both recorders also support network apps and have an HDMI input. The recorders also have USB ports allowing the connection to external hard drives to add more space for additional recording. The recorders include a remote control with dedicated buttons for Netflix and Vudu. The HDR5710 will have a MSRP of $249.99 with the HDR5750 having an MSRP of $299.99 with both products launching this month.
