Since I was a kid I loved everything in 3D. I remember getting so excited when a sitcom was going to air in 3D and you had to pick up the special glasses at the supermarket along with a copy of the TV Guide. Those were the days. But now Philips is bringing the three-dimensional experience straight into your home.

The Philips 56-inch HD 3D display was unveiled yesterday and it is simply stunning. It sports 4x’s the resolution of a any TV currently on the market. And you don’t need special glasses to enjoy the show. It is a Quad Full Autostereoscopic 3D HD TV and it made its debut at a Hollywood event devote to all things 3D.

So how high of a resolution are we talking, here? Try 3840×2160 on for size. Yeah, that blows any current HDTV right out of the water. The high resolution is needed, however, to create 3D images without a need for glasses. The TV has a 160-degree viewing angle, high image contrast and it provides for 46 views at once. Rumor has it this 3D-wonder will cost $25,000.
