Pentax has been teasing its medium format fans, showcasing an 18 megapixels prototype then another 31.6 megapixel digital CCD medium format sensor since the introduction of digital version of medium format 645 back in 2005, but none of them ever made it to prime time.

News from the Far East is they are pulling 645 out of its original plan. The development on digital series of 645 including the interchangeable lens will be halted and concentrated on the K-series DLSR instead. The decision doesn’t affect current production of 645N or 67 II, the medium format film cameras.
