Pentax Q-S1 camera is official, arrives this month

Remember the Pentax Q-S1 we recently saw surface in a couple leaks? Ricoh has gone ahead and made the camera official, revealing a bit about what it will offer photographers, as well as the availability of a color to order service for customizing the device.

With this newest addition comes a 12.4-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, with ISO up to 12800 and a gyro-sensor designed shake-reduction system. The camera is designed with a Quick Dial for easily toggling between features, and is hailed by Pentax as offering "outstanding operability" in conjunction with a Q ENGINE.

As far as the color customization goes, the Q-S1 will be available in four "standard color combinations" (not detailed), with 36 total body and grip color options for making your own customization if desired. The colors haven't been detailed, but are said to include things like champagne and khaki green.

Says Ricoh, the Pentax Q-S1 will be available later this month, though it has not revealed which day in particular it will launch. When it does hit shelves, the camera will have a suggested retail price of $499.95. The custom color options will also be arriving this month, but it wasn't revealed if it will be on the same day as launch.
