I hate Overdrive. It is a major pain. Instead, I just have my library purchase audiobooks on CD, then i rip them myself for audiobooks on the iPod. If I want to read a regular book, I just get the book from the library. Since I have a Mac computer, there aren't as many books available to me with OverDrive anyway. And the idea that you have to wait weeks to get one because someone else has downloaded it, is just ridiculous.

It's not just the Kindle books. Those were pulled but NO NEW books will be added to the system from Penguin. The ePUB books that are already in the system have to be left there because they were already paid for (but they don't have to leave all formats.) One publisher tried to have a policy of "renewing" licenses after a time (approximately 1 year), but then some libraries refused to buy from that publisher. I don't think that selling once to a library works for the publishers because they have no revenue stream and it's easier and easier to join multiple libraries. There needs to be a compromise.
