PaymentOne mobile payment service set for huge rebranding

PaymentOne, a company that specializes in the largely untapped market of billing non-mobile charges to a user's mobile phone account, is now PayOne and it plans to aggressively move forward in its endeavors. 2012 will be the year of mobile payment advancement and while PayOne is different than what we've been focused on (namely NFC technology) it fits nicely into that growing trend of using your phone to pay for stuff.

Right now, PayOne has partnerships with major mobile carriers and numerous online content providers – mainly online game services and digital downloads – but it wants to grow beyond that. Eventually, the goal is to be an ultimate payment provider of everything from app and music downloads to merchandise at online stores or even things as everyday as bus tickets.

Or, picture this – you see a billboard with a QR code on it, scan it, and buy whatever's being advertised instantly, without entering your credit card. The charge will be billed to your Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, or applicable carrier account. "Requiring the consumer to enroll, pre-register, provide sensitive personal or credit card data or establish a separate user name and password to make a simple payment amounts to far too much friction for a mobile user."

"The new PayOne brand represents our mission to streamline and eliminate every single step, process and keystroke possible to optimize the mobile payment experience for the consumer and our partner merchants," said PayOne CEO Joe Lynam.
