Everyday it seems a new digital picture frame is released. Some are just gimmicks while others are actually pretty nice and useful. This one falls under the useful category, though we do have a few quibbles.

The Specchio photo frame from Parrot is WiFi-based. This is great. You can get your photos onto the frame over your home wireless network. It’s quick and easy. Everyone loves that sort of thing and it looks nice too with a metallic mirrored appearance when not in use. But it also comes with Bluetooth NFC standard.

I guess it’s always good to have multiple options, but NFC? It hasn’t been tested rigorously for data, so this should be pretty interesting. It works pretty simply. Let’s say you take a picture on your cell phone. Then, all you’d have to do is hold your phone against the frame to transfer the images. Pretty cool sounding, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it works in the real world. But it’ll cost those that are curious a hefty $500.

With digital frames being all the rage now this one seems really cool. The touch phone to transfer photos reminds me of the Microsoft Surface.
