Panasonic Solid Shine LED/Laser Light Source Projectors now shipping

Panasonic has announced that it has a new series of projectors that are now shipping that don't have a lamp. The lamp inside normal projectors is a significant source of recurring cost because they have a limited lifespan and often cost several hundred dollars to replace. Panasonic's new Solid Shine series LED/laser light source projectors have no bulb.

Unlike the small pico projectors that use LED light sources, the Solid Shine series of projectors are very bright all producing 3500 lumens of light. The series uses one-chip DLP technology and promises up to 20,000 hours of virtually maintenance free operation. The series of projectors are aimed at all sorts of markets including education, museums, digital signage, and even home use.

The series includes several projector models including the PT-RZ370 Series and PT-RZ470 Series. Within those two series are for different projector models. The PT-RZ370U supports full HD resolution and has a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The projector is available now with an MSRP of $5899. The PT-RW330U is also available now and has a resolution of 1280 x 800 with the same 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The MSRP for that projector is $4599.

The PT-RZ470UK/UW projector supports full HD resolution and has a contrast ratio of 20,000:1. It will be available in March an MSRP of $6799. The final projector is the PT-RW430UK/UW featuring a resolution of 1280 x 820 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The projector will be available in March for $5499.
