Panasonic Japan unveils new G2 HDTV line

We are fresh off CES 2010 and as such we are anxiously waiting for a glut of new gear that we saw at the show to hit the market. The thing I am most waiting for are the new 3D ready HDTVs. Panasonic Japan today announced a new line of HDTVs that are called the G2 Series that I didn't hear about during CES.

The new line of sets is set to debut in Japan on February 5. All of the new sets use a new Panasonic "black panel" that boasts a contrast ratio of 500,000,000:1 and full 1080p resolution video capability. The new line also features a sensor to automatically adjust the screen brightness depending on the light in the room.

The G2 Series also promises to be more energy efficient than previous models with a claimed 30% reduction in power use. The sets also ship with a remote control allowing the one remote to control any Vieira Link device. Pricing and availability outside of Japan are unknown at this time.
