Palm tip "exciting" next year with new devices & webOS update

While HP has been keen to talk up the positive benefits of acquiring Palm and webOS, they've also been reluctant to commit to any specifics – we've heard about tablets and printers running the platform, but nothing that left us particularly confident about smartphones.  Now, thanks to an unnamed Palm spokesperson talking during an AT&T developers webinar, we have a few more tidbits; nothing concrete, but confirmation that Palm is "working on future devices" together with a "new version of the OS".

"I'm not allowed to talk about future roadmaps, especially because we're in the process of being acquired by HP, so I can't say. But yes we have a road map. We are working on future devices. And [a] new version of the OS. So I think, you're going to find the next year very exciting." Palm representative

Of course, a year is a long time and it's not like Palm's rivals will be standing still while the company develops, but with the might of HP's bank account behind them and the webOS platform, we'd like to think that the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus could get some suitably advanced successors.  All that remains to be seen is whether they also function as printers.
