The GSM Palm Pre has made its first official appearance, on the company’s Spanish site.  Unveiled as an exclusive to carrier Movistar, the Spanish network owned by Telefonica, the announcement lends further weight to the rumors that O2 – also a Telefonica carrier – will make some GSM Pre announcement this week.

In fact, SlashGear is meeting with Palm UK later on today to discuss the GSM Pre smartphone.  Going by recent rumors in UK newspaper The Guardian, the Pre is expected to launch on O2 alongside the iPhone 3GS.

At time of writing the “more information” link on the Palm Spain site does not work; however we’re not expecting any significant changes to the smartphone beyond the switch from CDMA EVDO Rev.A to HSDPA/HSUPA (as indicated by the “H” icon you can see on the Pre’s display, above).  Hopefully we’ll have more information to tell you later on today.
