John Carmack leaves id Software for full-time Oculus Rift

This afternoon it was announced that the co-creator of the classic video game DOOM has left the proverbial gaming building. John Carmack let it be known that he’s leaving (resigning, as it were) from id Software and Bethesda Softworks in favor of working with Oculus VR full-time on the device known as Oculus Rift. A statement from current id Softworks studio director Tim Willits was solemn, focusing on the idea that "his departure will not affect any current projects".

This app will made the CyanogenMod Project a reality in as simple a manner possible for users of Android who wish to work with a unique user interface for their Android device. Unlike most "launchers", this app installs the CyanogenMod ROM, effectively an operating system replacement for Android devices, top to bottom.

NVIDIA Editor’s Day 2013 Wrap-up: G-Sync, 4K, and gaming’s blurred lines

Though the event continues to be called "Editor's Day", this week we had an extended stay with NVIDIA in Montreal, learning about the company's newest in gaming development and hardware innovation. The biggest news of the event was surely the unveiling of G-Sync, a hardware module made by NVIDIA to be planted in the backs of high-end gaming monitors, making their functions slave to GeForce GTX graphics cards, but that wasn't the only big push made by the company for industry. Also making appearances were NVIDIA SHIELD, development initiatives through GameWorks, and some of the biggest names in game development today.

It would appear that a reboot of each of the iPod devices graced with color have been given a shade change this week thanks to the iPhone 5s. The iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle have been given "Space Gray" to match the iPhone 5s' newest tone. This suggests that while past years have seen a music-centric event reboot the likes of the iPod touch and/or the iPod nano or shuffle, we may see just the iPad and iPad mini given a new generation of hardware.
