Samsung Galaxy Note 2 specs allegedly leak in full

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 specs allegedly leak in full

Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 phablet is believed to be only days from its official release, but a Korean newspaper claims to have jumped the gun on what, exactly, the stylus-toting handset will bring to the table. The Note 2 GT-N7100 will have a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, so the Seoul Newspaper claims, along with 3G/4G connectivity and a 1.4GHz quadcore Exynos 4412 processor. Somewhat surprisingly, it's also tipped to arrive running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, not the older Ice Cream Sandwich.

Galaxy Note 2 mockup both faked and legit at once

Galaxy Note 2 mockup both faked and legit at once

It's nearly time for the next Samsung Unpacked event at IFA 2012 in Berlin, and another image has been leaked showing what they plan on revealing: the Galaxy Note 2. Rather legitimate looking images of the device have been shown today by Daniel UY, a self-proclaimed Samsung addict and rather talented mock-up artist. While it does appear that a real photo of the device has been "leaked" (per our post earlier today), we've now got confirmation from the original artist himself that his own talents have been spread without his consent.

NASA’s Curiosity beams back 3D photos of Mars

NASA's Curiosity rover continues to send back images from Mars, including 3D shots that show the intimidating terrain, as the robotic explorer continues to ramp up to full functionality. The new photos use the multiple Hazcam cameras mounted at Curiosity's extremities, pairing multiple fames to give a red/blue anaglyph 3D shot; meanwhile, NASA has also released a video that shows exactly where the landing site fits into the overall context of Mars.

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung is set to have a pen-happy August with the arrival of styli-stroked slates large and small, as the company attempts to bypass the iPad and iPhone and establish its own niche. Challenging Apple's full-sized tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, announced back in February and finally hitting shelves worldwide this month in WiFi-only and HSPA+ flavors; however, long-standing rumors suggest a smaller "phablet" is also in the pipeline for an August reveal, replacing the Galaxy Note.

NASA’s Curiosity is biggest Mars mission yet (in more ways than one)

NASA’s Curiosity is biggest Mars mission yet (in more ways than one)

Safely landed on Mars, NASA's Curiosity rover dwarfs its robot predecessors by a factor of 2:1, though we'll need to wait for it to take off its lenscap before we get a proper look at the Martian surface. Measuring 3m long, the six-wheeled Curiosity is double the size of the previous Exploration rovers and uses its heft to carry fifteen times heftier instruments with which it will check for evidence of life on the red planet.

Samsung backtracks on Aug 29 Galaxy Note 2 confirmation

Samsung backtracks on Aug 29 Galaxy Note 2 confirmation

Samsung has backtracked on apparent confirmation that its IFA 2012 "Unpacked" event will see the official launch of the Galaxy Note 2, despite a spokesperson's previous "phablet" promises. Announced yesterday, the event on August 29 will mark a year since the launch of the original Galaxy Note, so it came as little surprise when an unnamed Samsung spokesperson revealed the second-gen model would indeed take the spotlight. However, "we cannot disclose information on what will be unveiled" a subsequent company rep told AllThingsD when questioned.

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: August 2, 2012

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: August 2, 2012

Well folks, the end of Thursday is nearly upon us, which means we'll be kicking off the weekend soon. Today brought quite a bit more news about the Apple vs. Samsung trial than yesterday did, with Samsung's lawyer fighting back against allegations made by Apple's counsel. Things aren't looking too good for Samsung though, as it appears that Judge Lucy Koh has thrown out quite a bit of the company's evidence, and now Apple is requesting sanctions that uphold its patents based on yesterday's evidence leak. The upside to all of this, however, is that we got another peek at an early iPhone prototype today, so be sure to check that one out.

Samsung Galaxy Note II tipped for August 30th reveal

Just last week, a report from MK Business News indicated that the Galaxy Note II would be unveiled at the end of August during IFA 2012.
