The much-anticipated Nexus 5 has surfaced in a variety of leaks, including benchmarks and a video. Last month, it was tipped by DigiTimes that the LG handset would be launching on October 14, which was a reasonable date. The folks over at Tech Radar has spoken to a source that says it will be a bit later than that, however, arriving in the last week of this month with specs akin to the iPhone 5s.

With a gush of product releases this week the folks at Dell have come with more than just Windows - they've got a set of Dell Venue tablets running Android as well. Here we're seeing the Dell 7 come with a 7-inch display while the Venue 8 works with work with an 8-inch screen, both of them fully touch-enabled and both of them appearing with optional 4G connectivity. What's key with these releases for the company is making certain they'll be able to compete with the most popular tablet on the market today - the Nexus 7 from Google.

Nexus 5 MEMS Lytro camera code a case of mistaken identity

Through some heavy digging in files sourced from a real-deal Nexus 5 in the wild, sources this week have turned up mention of what they believe was MEMS camera technology in this next-generation smartphone. Using files uncovered by Myce, the folks at Android World appear to have discovered the exact camera module (or at least part of it) that'll be used in Google's next Nexus smartphone. The Sony image sensor imx179 appears in these files, leading the blogsphere to believe - again, sourcing Android World - that they've found a perfect connection to MEMS technology - also used in the Lytro camera.

In terms of clues leading up to the launch of a product, it would seem that an overly abundant amount of photos, specifications, and business moves by Google have lead the way to the Nexus 5 this past month. What we're seeing today, here on the first of October, is a single photo that lends itself extremely convincingly towards the idea that an LG-made Nexus 5 release is right around the corner. Is this not the same device we've seen in FCC listings and KitKat teasers several times over?

Ubuntu Touch release set for October: Android Nexus devices up first

In a month from the time of the release of this article - that's October 17th - the folks at Ubuntu will be releasing the newest desktop OS version 13.10, and along with it an image of Ubuntu Touch. This mobile software will be available "ready to install" on devices we've seen running early versions since January of 2013. This means the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets (2012 editions, at least), and the LG Nexus 4 will be ready to roll by Halloween with full smartphone-optimized Ubuntu.
