Marvel’s female Thor comics selling 30% more than previous series

Marvel’s female Thor comics selling 30% more than previous series

While Marvel surprised many comic book fans last summer when it announced a new series of Thor with a woman as the title character, sales numbers over the last few months have proven it to be a smart move, at least business-wise if nothing else. After the first issue of the new Thor Vol 4 series hit stores in October, it and the following four issues have each sold better than those that began the previous Thor comic series from 2012, titled Thor: God of Thunder.

Ghostbusters universe expands: New movie to star Channing Tatum

Ghostbusters universe expands: New movie to star Channing Tatum

We told you about the all-female cast Ghostbusters movie coming out this summer. Now, Sony will be creating the new production company Ghost Corps to handle all of the films in the re-envisioned Ghostbusters universe. They will also look to continue the Ghostbusters legacy through television, merchandising, and toys. (Can I get excited about the toys for a minute?) Even without a series reboot, the toys have always done well 25 years after the last movie. First up for Ghost Corps is to create a second Ghostbusters movie that will begin production this June.

Sony, Marvel agree to bring Spidey to Marvel film universe

Sony, Marvel agree to bring Spidey to Marvel film universe

Now, this sort of deal might sound strange at first. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have inked a deal that will let the webslinger, well, sling between multiple films created by the two rival studios. This means that, aside from whatever Amazing Spider-Man film Sony Pictures has planned, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will soon be making an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as well, first by himself and, perhaps, with others. There is even a possibility of MCU characters coming into Sony Picture's films.

Guardians of the Galaxy: 8-bit Cinema version

Guardians of the Galaxy: 8-bit Cinema version

It has become something of an honor for a movie to be turned into a pixelated rendition of its normal self, and we have seen many examples of this in the past thanks to the folks at CineFix. The Matrix, The Avengers, and many (many) more have been given an 8-bit makeover, some of them in the style of classic video games, others as merely classics-inspired truncated versions of the movies themselves. Joining them all is Guardians of the Galaxy.

LEGO 2015 includes Invisible Jet, Hulkbuster, Stormtroopers

This upcoming LEGO-filled year is going to be filled with some really, really strange sets. The January - June catalog (the German version) for LEGO has been released and it's packed with Avengers: Age of Ultron, new DC and Marvel Comics sets, and Star Wars. Don't expect to see any Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets quite yet as the film is set to be released in December, but feel free to get pumped about the inordinate amount of Stormtroopers coming in multiple sets in the first quarter of the year.

Stan Lee hints massive Marvel cross-over considered by movie studios

Stan Lee hints massive Marvel cross-over considered by movie studios

Stan Lee, former editor-in-chief and president of Marvel Comics, seems to have just hinted that the higher-ups at several of the world's largest movie studios are at least considering a giant cross-over feature with some of the most popular comic book properties. At a special interview and Q&A session this weekend to celebrate Marvel's 75th anniversary, a fan asked if there would ever be a movie with the Avengers, Spider-Man, and the X-Men together. Judging by Lee's response, it appears fans aren't the only ones who realize how awesome that would be.

Kingdom Hearts 3 may have both Marvel Comics and Star Wars characters

It's almost time - Kingdom Hearts 3 is nearly upon us. The co-director and game designer of both Kingdom Hearts 1.5/2.5 HD remasters AND Kingdom Hearts 3 Tai Yasue has spoken on the future. This future may very well have Disney characters (guaranteed, as in previous releases), as well as Marvel Comics characters AND Star Wars characters. Yasue suggested this week that while he couldn't "go into specifics," that since the release of Kingdom Hearts 2 was released 9 years ago, and Disney acquired both Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics, "nothing's off limits."
