OCZ files for bankruptcy while Toshiba makes purchase offer

Today the OCZ Technology Group, Inc., made clear their state of affairs, and things are looking bleak. The creators of high-performance solid state drives for computers of all sorts noted that they'd be filing for bankruptcy and that Toshiba had entered an offer to purchase their assets. These two companies have already substantially completed negotiations and OCZ noted that they believed all material terms had been agreed to.

As you may or may not know, every device has at least two names - one that its manufacturer gives it, this name sometimes never seeing the light of day, and a second name which a carrier may give it. In the case of the HTC Ruby, we may never see the device be released with the lovely jewel name attached to it - instead today we've got news that this cool futuristic mother of a smartphone will be dubbed "HTC Amaze 4G" for its release on USA carrier T-Mobile, and may well be released right alongside the Samsung Hercules relatively soonish. Sound like a done deal to you?

DROID BIONIC Revealed in Full Hardware Photos [UPDATE: Videos Too!]

The mobile world has been waiting for a device which combines a dual-core processor with the speed of Verizon's 4G LTE network since CES this past January. It was at this Consumer Electronics Show that the DROID Bionic was originally revealed, a device which combined an unnamed dual-core processor with the ability to run at what Verizon was then noting was up to 10 times faster than 3G with their 4G LTE network. What we've got now is a mobile environment where LTE has been worked into three Android smartphones, dual-core processors are in more than five smartphones, but there's still no combination of the two - by the looks of the photos in this post, that's about to change very soon.

Gigantic LEGO Technic set is a Mercedes Unimog truck

Geeks like LEGO, specifically the LEGO Technic sets that are so crazily detailed that you have to put the littlie LEGO pistons into the little LEGO engines of some models. The latest LEGO Technic set to be unveiled is a scale model of a truck that we rarely see in the States, but is apparently pretty common in Europe. The truck the kit is modeled after is the Mercedes Benz Unimog. That is a strange name, Unimog sounds like some sort of subterranean mythical creature that Hercules fought.

Gaming got some extra attention this week with speculation about the next-gen Nintendo Wii, a unique offer on the Xbox 360, and restoration issues for the PlayStation network. Android's WiFi security problem gets a fix, and the latest 3.1 Honeycomb update will be heading to the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Acer Iconia Tab A500 in June. Amazon is possibly ramping up a family of Android tablets, with the first two codenamed 'Coyote' and 'Hollywood' to hit the market before end of the year. Apple will be celebrating its 10th retail anniversary with a possible revamp dubbed Apple Store 2.0. T-Mobile USA's 2011 roadmap has leaked, and it's a smorgasbord of tempting telephonics. The smartphone roster, acquired by This is my next, includes reconfirmation that the HTC Sensation 4G is due on June 8, while the much-rumored HTC "Doubleshot" is expected to arrive on July 6 as the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide complete with HSPA+, a dual-core CPU, 3.7-inch display and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
