iBUYPOWER have announced a new range of gaming PCs, the Paladin XLC series, which use Intel’s Core i7 processors, Coolermaster’s HAF 932 cases and Asetek’s 240mm radiator liquid-cooling.  Despite the high performance – up to a Core i7-975 can be specified – the systems are apparently “virtually noiseless” by virtue of two huge 230mm fans running at just 800rpm.

usb3We’ve been talking about USB 3.0 for awhile now but it seems we finally have something new to report to you on the subject. In fact, this new interface might just be hitting PCs before the year is even through.

Apparently, PC makers in Taiwan will be the first companies to show off the new USB 3.0 tech in consumer computers. The interface is capable of 5GB/s transfer speeds and has been shown off numerous times at tech shows already.

NEC has begun shipping USB 3.0 host controller samples already and will hit full production by September. External storage is the likely first application of this technology. For now, all we can do is wait and see for what develops for the interface by the end of the year.

eMachines have rolled out three new desktop PCs, and the color-scheme is decidedly white.  The eMachines ET1300-02, ET1810-01 and ET1810-03 all have a mini-tower and use AMD’s Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz processor, Intel’s Celeron 420 1.6GHz and Intel’s Pentium dual-core E2210 2.2GHz respectively.

If we told you there was a way you could get a custom HD projector for under €499 ($704) with DVI and HDMI inputs, you might go so far as to give your left arm for such a device.  Unfortunately that would be the wrong idea, as you’d probably need that arm to put the projector together: you see, it’s a DIY kit, and according to German tinkerer Maxi Huber it’s the best piece of home entertainment kit he’s bought in some time.
