Facebook gets approval to build a low-key second campus

Facebook has just received the "go-ahead" to build a second campus in Menlo Park. Menlo Park's city council, minus one member, voted 4-0 to allow Facebook to build its second campus. The new campus will be a 433,555 square foot building located on the other side of Facebook's headquarters. It will be located on 312 and 313 Constitution Drive, just west of Bayfront Expressway.

Apple teases “Campus 2″ to Cupertino

The friendly neighborhood of Cupertino, California have just been sent a brochure from Apple which details their possible future structure by the name of "Apple Campus 2." This new headquarters for Apple would have space for 13,000 workers and looks to be a massive ring with more than a few future-looking aspects inside and out. This structure will prospectively replace 300,000 square feet of existing buildings in the area East of North Tantau Avenue and will be built up as 300,000 square feet of new research facilities for Apple.

Apple has had a request approved by the Cupertino Planning Commission to build an off-campus restaurant strictly for Apple employees. This seems odd at first glance, but when you consider the reason Apple wants to build this restaurant; it makes sense. Apple wants employees to be able to eat and discuss what's going on at the company, including product development, without fear of being overheard.

The City of Cupertino has just posted up today the updated campus plans that Apple submitted to the city last month for its new Campus 2 headquarters, which was announced to much publicity this summer, and was dubbed the Apple spaceship (no explanation needed, hopefully). What a truly amazing place for Apple employees to work on the next iPhone, iPad, or "i" device that comes into conception in the new Apple headquarters soon. They're most likely able to draw inspiration from the very structure that houses them. Pretty amazing, I have to say.
