PS4 zero-day update 1.5 detailed: Remote Play, Party, Blu-ray DVD

That title did't just fall out of thin air as a specifications boost for the PlayStation 4 - it's really a selection of items that won't work on the console right out of the box. What you're going to need to do when you purchase and own a PlayStation 4 this November is to update it with a software download called PS4 System Software Update 1.50 - without it, you'll have no Blu-ray Disk or DVD playing abilities, Online Multiplayer, Background music player, or a handful of other items.

According to reports from DualShockers' varied collection of Tweets, at least seven individual customers have been allowed to purchase and take their DualShock 4 controllers home here in October. The actual release date for the PlayStation 4 itself is November 15th or the 29th depending on which side of the sea you live on, all in 2013.

Sony 4ThePlayers video gets nostalgic ahead of PlayStation 4 launch

Sony says that earlier this year when the hastag #PlayStationMemories was trending it read a bunch of the tweets and messages that went along with the hastag. The electronics giant wanted to make a film that it feels represents what the PlayStation has meant to gamers since it debuted in 1995. Sony thinks that everyone can relate a bit to the movie titled #4ThePlayers since 1995.

Are Consoles Pushing Gamers to the PC?

Are Consoles Pushing Gamers to the PC?

There are PC gamers and there are console gamers. The console gamers would rather not get involved with PC gaming, while PC gamers look at those who invest and consoles and can’t help but wonder why they would invest in a device that won’t change over a significant period of time.

Years ago, PC gamers and console gamers stayed within their silos and didn’t even consider coming out. After all, to be a PC gamer was a badge of honor. And to play console games was to say that investing in new GPUs and high-end keyboards and mice was a mistake.

PS4 DRIVECLUB delayed until 2014 Sony confirms

Ubisoft kicks Watch Dogs release back to 2014

It would appear that the folks at Ubisoft aren't entirely ready to roll out their titles Watch Dogs and The Crew just yet, as they've pushed the titles back from the 2013-14 season to 2014-15 instead. This morning's announcement came with word that the company would also be adjusting financial targets for the coming season, owing largely to the change of dates for the two relatively large title releases. The games will be ready to roll for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 starting next year.

Foxconn PlayStation 4 labor policies broken for student interns

Foxconn PlayStation 4 labor policies broken for student interns

It would appear that the team responsible keeping labor policies intact for at least one Foxconn manufacturing plant in China is in it deep this week as a group of students was found to be working well beyond their normal allotment of intern hours. What we've got here is a set of student engineering majors headed for graduation at the Xi'an Institute of Technology working specifically on an order of Sony's next gaming console: the PlayStation 4. These students worked on a series of tasks at a Foxconn plant which had them staying late and working overtime - strictly against student intern rules in the plant.

PlayStation DualShock 4 confirmed compatible with Windows PCs

PlayStation DualShock 4 confirmed compatible with Windows PCs

This week it's been confirmed that the newest generation of Sony gaming peripherals - namely the DualShock 4 wireless controller - will be working with Windows machines. This is somewhat of a surprise revelation made by Sony for the PlayStation 4-aimed piece of equipment, mainly because there's no word from opposing camps (Nintendo for the WiiU and Microsoft for the Xbox One) of any sort of similar functionality for their controllers. Word comes from none other than Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment.
