PlayStation 4 gamers will be able to use real names in addition to PSN IDs

As part of its keynote at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony has detailed the PSN aspect that will come with the PlayStation 4, saying that in addition to PSN IDs, gamers will also be able to use their real names. Such a change will facilitate the ability to form more traditional friendship-esque bonds over the PS4 gaming experience, rather than the impersonal nature of random IDs.

If there's one thing LucasArts was good at, it was getting to know 3rd-party game creators - that's essentially the base for their entire industry, after all. When you run a gaming company that's creating games that are (mostly) based in the Star Wars universe, you've got to work with a collection of developers - at least that's how it used to be, before Disney shut down LucasArts. Apple TV plans tip towards apps while full-fledged iTV still and end-goal

While we've seen the Apple device known as Apple TV existing and updating steadily over the past several years, it's still the full television set - screen and all - that hold sway over talks on where the company is going. Word today from sources speaking with Quartz suggests that Apple is not going to focus on bringing a standard cable TV experience to the public if and when they create what's still commonly referred to as "iTV", but an app-focused hardware and software combination.

YouTube app update for iOS and Android brings “Cast” previews

Readying itself for the likes of Chromecast, PlayStation 4 (already on PS3), Google TV, and more, YouTube has been updated this week in its iOS and Android forms. This app already allowed the user to play any and all (save no-mobile) videos with ease, now the app will allow users to watch a video or Cast a video. This added bit of functionality had worked with devices like the Nexus Q and PlayStation 3 and Google TV in the past, but here we're seeing a "preview" screen appearing along with the ability to add said video to a queue.

PlayStation 4 launch November 15th, 32 countries by holiday season

This week during Sonys Gamescom appearance it was announced that the PlayStation 4 would be formally released on the 15th of November inside the USA. Through Europe, the PlayStation 4 was announced to be available starting on the 29th of November, while the device would be available in a total of 32 Countries this holiday season. This follows up on suggestion from Sony that the device would be released later in the year, close to the holiday season in general.
