BlackBerry Classic gets detailed in spec and photos leak

BlackBerry Classic gets detailed in spec and photos leak

With the BlackBerry Passport, the BlackBerry "Prestige" Porsche Design P'9983, and the new BlackBerry Blend software, most of the company's roadmap for the last quarter of 2014 have come to pass. All except one. The BlackBerry Classic, the Q20 in previous literature, is still something fans are eagerly waiting for before they call this year done. While that day might be coming soon, we will have to settle for unofficial information, like this latest batch of features and images that paint an almost complete picture of the smartphone.

How smart will Tesla’s Model S Autopilot be?

How smart will Tesla’s Model S Autopilot be?

Tesla's plans for the new Autopilot features on the Model S aren't exactly humble, with CEO Elon Musk suggesting EVs that could come to heel at your beck & call and even read your calendar to know when they might be needed, but what works now and what's merely on the roadmap? Speaking at the launch of the Tesla "D", the AWD version of the Model S, Musk cited regulatory lag for blocking some of the more advanced autonomous features his cars are capable of, so we went hunting to see what, exactly, new owners should expect.

Cadillac schemes plans to trample Tesla

Cadillac schemes plans to trample Tesla

Cadillac is planning a strike at Tesla, with a fully-electric luxury car on the roadmap that will see the company challenge the Model S as the GM-owned marque broadens its play for eco-friendly motoring. The all-electric car - the name of which has not been confirmed - will be one of a number of new models that includes the refreshed ELR plug-in hybrid and a luxury sedan now known to be the CT6. However, Cadillac is also considering a number of other models, including new crossovers and an even huger, uber-luxe sedan to take on the best of German rivals from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.

Tesla’s wicked-fast P85D just drove me autonomously

Tesla’s wicked-fast P85D just drove me autonomously

I confess, I didn't really take Tesla's test driver seriously when he told me I needed to put my head safely against the headrest before he floored the new Model S P85D. Sure, EVs are torquey from a standing start, but 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds isn't unheard of in the sports car world. Then we accelerated down Tesla's LED-lit tunnel, a multi-colored birth canal for the fastest four-door sedan ever made.

Tesla Model S “D” adds AWD: Self-driving Auto-Pilot

Tesla Model S “D” adds AWD: Self-driving Auto-Pilot

Tesla promised us something new with its big "D" reveal, and the reality is a new version of the Model S - the P85D - and some smarter driving tech that helps push the EV ahead of its Germanic rivals offer. Announced in LA at an event swamped with existing Model S owners (many of whom were hoping it would be the Model X SUV that was actually the secret star of the show), the "D" isn't a new model as such but in fact new versions of the existing Model S, adding an all-wheel-drive version to across the line-up that boosts traction, performance, and range. Maybe more exciting, though, is the future ability for the car to - in limited circumstances - drive itself to meet you.

Five reasons why you shouldn’t buy a smartwatch yet

With the long anticipated release of Apple Watch this past week, the company behind it put a lot of coal in the engine of the wearable train. For a solid year, the world hemmed and hawed about smartwatches, waiting to see what Apple would do. Now that they’re officially in the mix, here are a few reasons to sit this early-adopter’s segment out — at least for a year.

Android Wear boost incoming: Bluetooth music, GPS, more

Android Wear will get some new smartwatch hardware to play on this week, but Google is also planning a flood of software updates which it hopes will dramatically increase the appeal of its wearables platform. The first, due this week, will improve the voice control experience of the wrist-worn platform, as well as how navigation works on devices like the Moto 360 and Samsung Gear Live, but according to the Android Wear team, that's just the start of things.

Verizon VoLTE launch imminent: HD Voice & Video Calls

Verizon VoLTE launch imminent: HD Voice & Video Calls

Verizon will begin its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) roll-out over the next few weeks, pushing HD Voice and video calls over the carrier's 4G data network. The much-promised technology, which marks the beginning of a shift away from CDMA voice calls, will require compatible handsets on both ends of the call - whether audio or video - though Verizon says that several devices will be eligible after a software update.
