OS X 10.9 Mavericks Golden Master released to developers

Apple has reached a milestone with the next version of OS X by seeding the Golden Master of OS X Mavericks to developers. The release of the Golden Master of the operating system comes a couple weeks after the Mavericks Developer Preview was made available. The Golden Master edition of Mavericks is the almost the final version of the software that will be shipped to the public.Developers got their hands on the Golden Master edition of Mavericks a few hours after it was offered to AppleSeed members. Another program was handed out to developers in Golden Master flavor alongside Mavericks, Apple also released the Golden Master version of Xcode 5.0.1.

The latest version of Xcode is expected to launch alongside Mavericks. Apple hasn't offered up an exact timeframe for the launch of OS X Mavericks, but rumors suggest the launch will come sometime this month. Mac users will get several new features when the operating system does finally reach consumer hands.

Those new features are tipped to include support for iBooks, a new Finder Tabs feature, integrated Apple Maps, and a power saving feature called App Nap. The update will also bring a Compressed Memory feature among others. Apple did talk a bit about OS X 10.9 Mavericks during WWDC with a basic introduction to the operating system.
