The heads up display would simply be holographic as your eyes are suspended like 3d movie glasses; but contacts.
It could get to the point in software with the right hardware to compute the dilation and focus characteristics of the individual’s i(eyes) to interpreted the depth the person is focusing on and perfectly lay the hologram at the same depth constantly;
but most people would find it super distracting and get I guess, ‘sea sick’ or dizzy until they let themselves adapt to it.

That’s so cool! Have you ever read the Uglies Trilogy? There’s something like that that people get at the age of 16. But they got it by surgry and it also improved their eye sight. They’re very similar.

I wonder how one could visually focus on an image displayed on the contacts. The average person can’t focus on anything less than a couple of inches from their eye, much less in contact with it.
