Olympus to ship E-M5 starting March 31

Olympus has announced that it has a new high-end digital camera called the E-M5 that will start shipping on March 31. The camera will launch in Asia first and the listing in the photo is from Amazon Japan. The camera is reportedly expected to hit US stores in the middle of April with some retailers showing availability on the 10th.

The camera is up for pre-order right now and it is priced at ¥94,320 for the body only in Japan. The body will be offered in black or silver. The camera can also be pre-ordered with the body and a 14-42 mm lens on Amazon here in the states for $1099. The camera body and 12-50 mm lens will be offered in silver and black for $1299 via Amazon US.

The camera body only will cost $999. The camera has a 16 megapixel Live MOS sensor and a 3 inch tilting OLED screen that is touch sensitive. It can shoot nine frames per second bursts and has five-axis image stabilization. This is one of Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras and is the first of the OM-D range.
