Olympus offers E-600 DSLR to entry-level shoppers

The DSLR market has had several new additions this month for shoppers looking to move up to the DSLR world from the point-and-shoot. Last week Sony whipped out a trio of Alpha DSLR cameras that were notably lacking video recording capability. Today Olympus has announced a new entry-level DSLR.

The camera is called the E-600 and will sell for $599.99 with a 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 Zuiko zoom lens. The features of the camera include a 12.3-megapixel sensor, 2.7-inch swiveling LCD with Live View, in body image stabilization, a dust reduction system and more. The E-600 can shoot bursts at four frames per second.

The worst news about the camera is that it lacks an option for storing shots to SD cards. Instead of the widely available storage medium, Olympus opted to go with CF, UDMA, and xD storage options. The camera will hit stores in November, just in time for holiday shopping.
